We're back at Elkhaven (The Watson House)!

We're replacing the annexe and garage. Strom Architects have designed both buildings with pitched roofs. We will be using open sweet chestnut cladding on the walls and the roofs to match the cladding on the main house. Demolition started before Christmas and construction in the New Year.

Demolition of the annexe and installation of a temporary road which spoils the lawn and view from the house somewhat.

Wood Awards where Woodpeckers was Highly Commended.

Emma Ward-Lambert (Strom Architects) and Edward Rice (Rice Projects) were up at the Carpenters Company, in London, for the Wood Awards ceremony last week. Woodpeckers had been shortlisted and was Highly Commended. We met Henry Goss from the The Boundary there and bumped into Steve Corbett, Edwards old boss from the Green Oak Carpentry Company back when they were working on the Savill Gardens Grid Shell. A very enjoyable evening with excellent canapes!

Wood Awards

Rice Projects have been invited to the Wood Awards ceremony next month, with Strom Architects. Woodpeckers is on the shortlist.

Southsea Tennis Pavilion - Site set up and demolition

First job was to set the site up by creating a new access point onto Eastern Parade by installing new site gates and a drop curb.  We then erected temporary fencing to secure the site and installed a haul road and crane pad from Eastern Parade up to the existing pavilion.

The existing pavilion was clad in asbestos which was very carefully removed and disposed of. Following this demolition happened very quickly.

Southsea Tennis Pavilion

Here are some CGI's of our current project. Designed by PAD Studio, it's a replacement Tennis Pavilion on Canoe Lake Park, Southsea, Portsmouth. It's been commissioned by a private client for public and community use and includes ten new grass courts, a number of all weather courts and a cafe.

Rice Projects is responsible for the construction of the pavilion. We started on site in May and due for completion for next tennis season. The cafe and grass courts are already up and running. Visit the link below if you're interested in using the courts or joining the club.
