Smith House, Dorset

Project Overview

Located near Christchurch, Dorset, this contemporary and modern home is set within a surprisingly suburban plot. Designed by John Pardey Architects and with engineering by Barton Engineers.

The site constraints of the suburban context made this project more complex to manage, to ensure limited disruption to neighbours and access for larger plant equipment and material storage.

The home is designed around a courtyard, constructed with a steel frame with masonry and timber infill. The base is clad in insulated external acrylic render with the upper level uses cedar cladding.
